Bulgarian Folktales Challenge: Hurts & Herbs 🌿

A digital print of my interpretation of one of the themes from 2026 Bulgarian Folktales Challenge: Plague & Ivy - linocut and watercolor.

The Plague is thought about as an old woman, coming with her plague child. She has a scythe. People would put basin with water so that she could wash her baby in it. I added two dogs Sabotnitsi. This means they were born on a Saturday which was considered very special and gives them magical protective powers against the Plague and other evil spirits. She has some of the symbols used on the Plague cross.

The herb used against her is Ivy.

Printed on recycled paper.

Size: A3(29.7x42 cm)

Shipped in a paper envelope, secured with a cardboard back.
